In modern manufacturing, speed and precision are only part of the equation. The real competitive…
At Concept, we’re always excited to showcase machinery that blends precision, versatility, and productivity. Today, we’re in front of the TRL 16 Tool Room Lathe, a platform designed to meet the needs of both CNC production and manual machining.

Dual-Mode Operation: CNC and Manual
One of the standout features of the TRL 16 is its ability to operate in full CNC mode or manual mode. For production work, operators can simply switch to automatic mode and run programs—whether conversational or standard NC programs. The lathe also includes graphical simulation, allowing users to verify and adjust their programs directly on the control before machining. When manual work or part rework is required, switching to manual mode is seamless. All height offsets and tooling setups from the CNC side carry over, making it simple for operators to manually adjust parts using the turret, control Z, and control X. This makes the TRL 16 a true hybrid lathe, ideal for shops that need both production efficiency and hands-on flexibility.
Robust Work Capacity

The TRL 16 features a 60-inch bed length and a 16-inch swing, accommodating a wide variety of workpieces. You can remove the gap on larger discs or wheels to gain additional clearance. The lathe comes with an automatic turret, but operators can also mount a front tool post for manual work outside the turret. Whether it’s shaft work, grooving, or threading, the TRL 16 handles it with ease. It even includes a thread safe cycle, allowing for precise thread repair and rework—a feature that makes this lathe extremely versatile for job shops and tool room applications.
Ideal Users and Applications
Typical TRL 16 customers include job shops, tool rooms, and fabrication shops that require a machine capable of both production and manual adjustments. From small, intricate parts to larger components, this lathe covers a broad spectrum of applications. And while the TRL 16 is our smallest model, we also offer larger TRL models up to 24-inch swing and 35-inch bed, perfect for bigger turning projects requiring precision and reliability.
Conclusion
The TRL 16 Tool Room Lathe is more than just a machine—it’s a versatile CNC and manual lathe solution for modern machining. Whether your shop focuses on high-volume production, precision manual adjustments, or thread repair, the TRL 16 provides the flexibility, power, and ease of use to get the job done efficiently.
