Surface finish matters—and when you need accurate roughness measurements on the go, you want a…
When you’re running long, complex part programs in ZEISS CALYPSO, inspection time can quickly add up. But what if you only need to check a few critical features—or verify dimensions tied to a specific machining operation?
That’s where mini-plans make a big difference.
What Are Mini-Plans?
Mini-plans allow you to run only the measurements you need instead of executing the full inspection program. By creating customized mini-plans for critical dimensions or multi-operation processes, you can dramatically reduce measurement time without sacrificing accuracy.
How to Set Up a Mini-Plan in ZEISS CALYPSO
-
Open your part program in ZEISS CALYPSO.
-
Select your characteristics by holding Ctrl and clicking each dimension you want (e.g., diameters C1, C2, C3, and a distance).
-
Go to Plan -Mini-plan -Define.
-
Name your mini-plan (e.g., “Critical Features”) and click OK.
-
During program run, select your mini-plan from the dropdown menu and start.
Your CMM will now only run the features associated with that mini-plan—saving valuable time on the shop floor.
Why Use Mini-Plans?
-
Faster Results: Eliminate unnecessary measurements.
-
Flexibility: Create unlimited mini-plans for different operations.
-
Workflow Integration: Add mini-plans to your Auto Run palettes for quick access.
-
Smarter Quality Control: Focus on the dimensions that matter most at each stage of machining.
